What Level of Care is the Best Fit for You?

As we continue to see an uptick in retirement planning, an emerging trend of residents hoping to join senior living communities earlier and younger has emerged. Spring Harbor welcomes new retirees to our community with open arms. And honestly, we can’t say we’re surprised—resort style living with an endless array of amenities beats the time-consuming chores and costs of homeownership any day, in our book!

Independent Living

While most of our incoming community members join us as Independent Living residents, enjoying their new beautiful villas or conveniently located apartments, you may wonder exactly what that means and whether that is indeed the right level of care for you. Rest assured, our team of medical experts will work with you to ensure you enter the community under the most accurate level of care possible. However, if you’re just looking for a quick eligibility “cheat sheet” for reference, we generally want to ensure Independent Living residents are able to:

• Get to and from the main dining room without assistance from staff
• Evacuate in the event of emergency or disaster
• Appropriately engage in social interactions
• Control and manage medical conditions
• Avoid mismanagement of incontinence products

Although the list above will give you a good idea of whether you are a good candidate for Independent Living it is best to discuss your personal situation with our experienced staff, as every situation differs and, in some cases, accommodation for the above may be made to enable a resident to maintain in Independent Living.

However, if the qualifications for Independent Living sound too far off for you, it may be worth your while to look into our other levels of care such as Personal Care, Skilled Nursing or Memory Support.

Personal Care

If your abilities don’t quite meet the Independent Living checklist above, our Personal Care at Spring Cove may be a good fit for you. With personalized assistance, special needs and precautions required for daily activities are met. Assistance with little things that may have become daily annoyances—getting dressed or taking your blood sugar, for example—can make a huge difference not only in your quality of life, but also in keeping you safe, so you can get back to the activities you love.

Memory Support

For those that may encounter the challenges that accompany Alzheimer’s or dementia, our Memory Support Center at Lighthouse Point is the place to be. You’ll get all the treasured amenities that make Spring Harbor the luxurious retirement destination it’s known as, with the security of a community designed with your safety in mind.

Skilled Nursing

In need of compassionate caretaking or rehabilitation? Check out our Skilled Nursing Care at Horizon Bay. Serving both short- and long-term stays, our certified nurses and nursing assistants are here to help with challenges related to limited mobility and chronic illness, alike, while offering you comfort and quality of life.

Regardless of which level of care you may qualify for, it is important to note that our team of qualified caregivers is here to work with you and your loved ones to develop a customized care plan and assessment upon entry to our community. By developing a baseline early on, our Spring Harbor staff is able to evaluate important items like future progress, potential weight changes, adaptive equipment needs, or any changes in medication.
