Summary
Responsible for daily cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas including common spaces, hallways, residential units, restrooms, dining rooms, offices, and furniture, in compliance with standards and under the direction of the Housekeeping Director or Supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Perform general cleaning of ceilings, vents, fixtures, windows, walls, doors, floors, carpets, showers, sinks, toilets, furniture, and equipment.
- Maintain organized housekeeping storage facilities.
- Attend scheduled in-service trainings and meetings.
- Report issues or concerns to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Director.
Marginal Functions
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet emergency or facility needs.
Knowledge & Skills
- General knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and procedures.
- Knowledge of infection control procedures and universal precautions.
Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and follow directions.
- High school education or GED preferred.
- 1–3 years of housekeeping experience, preferably in hospitality or healthcare.
Special Demands
- Strong positive attitude toward customer service and geriatric care.
- Commitment to facility goals and high job performance.
Mental & Physical Requirements
- Good physical and mental health.
- Constant standing, walking, stair climbing, and lifting.
- Must lift/carry over 50 lbs.
- Requires reaching above, below, and at shoulder level.
Work Environment
- Work in well-lit, ventilated common areas, laundry facilities, and units.
- May work in cramped quarters or outdoors in varying conditions.
- Possible exposure to infectious waste or diseases, with protective equipment required.
Equipment Used
Upright/area vacuums, buffing machine, backpack vac, wet/dry vac, pressure washer, carpet extractor, trash carts, and compactor.
